Stafford Courier, May 12, 1887
"Uncle Perry Lee passed to his rest last Thursday mourning(sic) after quite a long illness. Father Lee, as he was more commonly called, was indeed the father of Leesburg, which was named for him in days gone by. He passed with many of us through the hardships incident to life in the wild west and was permitted to live long enough to see prosperity crowning our labors and above all to enjoy spiritual blessings from on high. The burial service was conducted by Rev. D.R. Lamar of the Baptist church, of which church Father Lee was a consistent member for about 40 years. He had nearly completed his three-score years and ten and, as a shock of corn fully ripe, he was only gathered home."
