The two eldest sons Allen Albert and Herbert D Chadwick purchased a foundry in 1896 and moved it to the expanding section of Randolph then known as West Randolph (now Randolph). In the early days, all the items produced in the foundry were sold locally. However, with the coming of the railroad through Randolph, exporting manufactured goods became an important part of the foundry's business and shipments of stoves and plows were sold nationwide. In 1908, the Chadwicks sold their foundry to a new company, Sargent, Osgood, & Roundy. The site of this foundry today is the site of what is now Chadwick's Steakhouse and Pub. In Randolph center VT2013.[ Historical information from Erin Beidler, Harriet Chase, and Linda Chase; Census records.]
