Passed Away
Mrs. Juliette B. Knight, an Old Resident
At the home of J. M. Brainerd, 616 North James street, Wednesday noon, occurred the death of Mrs. Juliette Butts Knight, mother of Mrs. Brainerd, at the age of 78 years. Death was due to no particular disease, but to general wearing out of the system. Deceased was the widow of Joseph H. Knight, who died about four years ago. She was a daughter of Deacon Daniel Butts, and was born on Canterbury Hill, therefore being one of the early settlers of this section. She was the last of a large family of children. They had lived in Rome nearly all her life, coming here when very young. She remembered Rome from the time it was a mere hamlet and watched its steady growth to the present beautiful and prosperous city. For her noble character she was greatly respected by all who knew her. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian Church of this city, and was ever active in the advancement of the society. Besides Mrs. Brainerd, two sons, Charles W. and George Knight of Cleveland, N.Y., survive. The funeral will be held at Mr. Brainerd's residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Rome Cemetery.
