Mr. Brandenburg Dies At Hospital
Mr. Howell Cotter Brandenburg, 69, who resided on the Williamson Road near Griffin, died at the Griffin-Spalding Hospital at 4 o'clock Tuesday
He was admitted to the hospital late Monday afternoon suffering with a heart attack.
A retired farmer and insurance company representative, Mr. Brandenburg was a native of Coweta County. He was the son of the late Mr. Rufus K. Brandenburg and the late Mrs. Susan Stewart Brandenburg of Coweta County. A veteran of World War One (WWI) Mr. Brandenburg served in France. He
was a mason, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Haralson Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
In 1940 he was appointed chairman of the U.S. Census for the Fourth Congressional district.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Haisten's Chapel. The Rev. Harold Braswell will officiate and burial will be in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Meriwether County.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gussie Camp Brandenburg; two step-daughters, Mrs. W. W. Lewis (Sallie) of Griffin and Mrs. J. H. Stodghill (Nora) of LaGrange; four brothers, H. L. Brandenburg of Atlanta, L. P. Brandenburg of Senoia, W. R. Brandenburg of Los Angeles, Calif., H. H. Brandenburg of Concord, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. M. E. Pope (Mary Estell) of Griffin, Mrs. Hugh Brown (Jewell Frances) of Senoia, and Mrs. Wallace Colly (Evelyn) of Atlanta.
His body will remain at Haisten Funeral Home.
