Robert Peyton Futch was born October 1, 1875 in Tyler County, Texas to Isaac G. Futch, Sr. and Sarah T. Barnes Futch. Robert's ancestry was German, and the Futch surname started out as Fuchs. In German "Fuchs" means "Fox."

Robert died in 1877 at age two in Tyler County and is buried in the Futch Family Cemetery in Chester, Tyler County.
