Quinton Ray Marshall , 85, of Radford, passed away suddenly on the Marshall Tree Farm on Saturday, March 1, 2008 surrounded by nature, which he loved and enjoyed all his life.

Quinton was born December 16 1922 in Indian Valley, Floyd Co., VA. He was the son of Everett Clinton Marshall and Maretha Jane Quesenberry Marshall.

He was a member and Deacon of the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church. In 1943 he enlisted in the Army and served under General Patton's command in the 567th Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery Unit. He was a Board member of Pulaski Farm Bureau for over 50 years. He farmed cattle and raised crops all of his life. He was one of the first Nurserymen and a Pioneer in the Nursery industry in Southwest Virginia, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #776.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E. C. and Maretha Quesenberry Marshall, his wife of 58 years, Sadie Phillips Marshall, and an infant son, Perry Lee Marshall.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Jacqueline Marshall, of Christiansburg; a daughter and son-in-law Angia and Wayne Hall, of Fairlawn; four grandchildren, Luke Branden Marshall, Kayleigh Elizabeth Hall, Lance Ryan Marshall and Kameron Ray Hall; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carmon and Myrtle Marshall, of Radford and Davis and Rochella Marshall, of Indian Valley; three sisters, Sylvia Minnick of Radford, Vera Mae Hollandsworth of Indian Valley, and Claudia Roop of Christiansburg; brother-in-law, Kirby Phillips of New River; and several nieces and nephews and numerous friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Terry Woodard officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Radford, where members of V.F.W. Post #776 will conduct military graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to V.F.W. Post #776 Bereavement Fund, 1303 Wadsworth Street, Radford, VA 24141 or to Fairlawn Presbyterian Church Capital Improvement Fund, 6900 Pulaski Ave, Fairlawn, VA 24141. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church. The Marshall family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
