A. R. Legg Dies at 77
Andrew (Ray) Legg, 77, longtime resident of the Duncombe community, died at 4:15 today at the home of his sister, Mrs. Frank Seamands, 1215 Walnut St. He had been in failing health the past several years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home with the Rev. Roy Nelson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.
Andrew Raymond Legg, son of Harry and Olive Legg, was born in Foosland, Ill. He came to Iowa in 1895, locating in the Duncombe community where he had made his home ever since and engaged in farming.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Walter and Harry Legg.
Surviving are three half-sisters and two half-brothers: Mrs. Frank Seamands, Mrs. Will V. Graham of Webster City, Mrs. Bert Coulson, Downey Calif., Ed Halliday of Bertha, Minn., and James Halliday of Webster City. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of the Masonic lodge, and served as a district director of the lodge of which he had been a member for more than 50 years.
