(Veteran) BEGLEY - Dr. Bernard J., age 72, died Feb 9, 2000 in San Diego, CA. Born in Omaha. Dr. Begley graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1950. He served his residency in urology under Dr. Ruben Flocks at the University of Iowa. He was the first recipient, in 1964, of the Thirlby Award, for his presentation of the best urological research presentation before the North Central Urological Society. In 1977, Dr. Begley changed specialties to Occupational Medicine. For the past ten years Dr. Begley practiced Occupational Medicine in San Diego for the U.S. Navy and civilian employers.
Dr. Begley is survived by his wife, Patricia and daughter Wilhelmina Robke, by his former wife Phyllis Begley and their children Kathleen Begley, Ann & Abel Brissette, Mary Beth & Mark Davey, Patty & Bud Bowser, John R. Begley and Margaret Begley. Services were held Feb 16, 2000 Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association or Creighton University Hereditary Cancer Prevention Center.
