Dorothy E. Ciaraldi, 83, Venice, died Oct. 3, 2005.

She was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Lawrence, Mass., and came to Venice 14 years ago from Londonderry, N.H. She graduated from Lawrence, Mass., General Hospital School of Nursing and joined the Navy Nurse Corps in 1944.

She was an ensign in the Naval Reserve and received her basic training at the Portsmouth, Va., Naval Hospital. She served at Chelsea (Mass.) Naval Hospital and Long Beach (Calif.) Naval Hospital. She was discharged in 1945 and was a member of The Women's Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Michael; daughters Pamela Truax of Sarasota and Martha O'Neill of Reno, Nev.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, with services to follow, at Ewing Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans Association, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086. Published in Herald Tribune on October 5, 2005
