Eric Bartz, 24
Eric Bartz, age 24 of Brooten, formerly of Glenwood, died Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held at 3p.m. Friday, November 4, 2005 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church with Minister Signe Gray officiating. Interment was in the Lake Ameilia Cemetery near Villard. A visitation was held at the Glenwood Lutheran Church on Thursday from 4 to 8p.m. and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Eric Anthony Bartz, the son of James Bartz and Betty Eblen, was born February 20, 1981 in Glenwood. He was baptized and confirmed at the Glenwood Lutheran Church. Eric attended E.N. Nordgaard Area Elementary School and Minnewaska Area High School. He enjoyed cooking, and was employed at the Minnewaska House in Glenwood for a few years. He also worked at Perkins, Burger King and Nodlands Café. Eric had been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis which he courageously battled throughout his life.
Eric enjoyed hunting, putting model cars together, camping in his younger years, and watching all kinds of pro sports. Friends were a big part of his life and would often be found throwing darts or just hanging out. He enjoyed being outside, and mostly appreciated being in the warmth of the sun. He was also a loyal "Adidas" brand consumer.
Eric is survived by his mother Betty Eben of Little Falls; father James and his wife Shirley of Benson; sisters Bobbie of Little Falls, Carrie Claes of Belgium, Vanessa and April Bartz both of Benson, brothers Chris and Ricky Bartz both of Benson; grandmothers, Muriel Karrow of Alexandria and Ellendale Bartz of Glenwood, Godparents, Dean and Kae Eblen and Terrence Gerdes; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by grandfathers, Earl Eblen, Harvey Karrow and Wilber Bartz; Grandmother Mary Matthies.
Casket bearers were Dean and Donald Eblen and Matthew Pearson, John, Peter, and Philip Bartz. Honorary bearers were all of Eric's cousins and all who called him "friend".
