Otto George Dingfelder Jr.
Rollingstone, Minn. Otto George Dingfelder Jr., 50, of Rollingstone died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at his home.
He was born Aug. 12, 1948, in Winona County to Otto and Regina (Wantoch) Dingfelder.
He attended Holy Trinity elementary and high school in Rollingstone. He graduated from Winona Technical College and attended Winona State University. He married Diane Carol Rothman on Dec. 14, 1974.
He farmed in the Rollingstone area for most of his adult life. He served as an officer for Rollingstone Township for over 20 years.
Otto was a renowned registered Holstein dairy farmer who influenced Holstein genetics around the world. An entire chapter of Holstein breed history could be written on the accomplishments of his great home bred herd.
Otto will be remembered as a devoted husband and father and a friend to many people worldwide. He was an individual who had a forceful but positive influence. He was a respected, natural-born leader whose presence stood out in any group.
Otto is survived by his wife, Diane of Rollingstone; two sons, Otto III (age 14) and Alexander (age 11); four sisters, Rita (Harold) Quarry of Santa Monica, Calif., Barbara Dingefelder of Winona, Marilyn Dingfelder of Winona and Janice (Roy) Riley of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one brother, Carlus (Carolyn) Dingfelder.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be offered on Monday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Rollingstone. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rev. Edward F. McGrath will officiate.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-8 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a closing Christian Wake Service at 8 p.m. A memorial is being arranged.
