|Death: ||Jun. 16, 1816|
Wife of Jared Ingersoll.
She and Jared had four sons:
Charles Jared, who became a lawyer and writer, and married Mary Wilcocks (daughter of Alexander and Mary [Chew] Wilcocks);
Henry, who went to sea and died young and unmarried;
Joseph Reed, who became a Philadelphia lawyer, was active in the military during the war of 1812, and later served in the US Congress. He married Ann Wilcocks, sister of his brother's wife;
Edward, who became a lawyer and married Catherine Ann Brinton.
** The tombstone for Betsy lists an incorrect date of death. This is because it was a replacement tombstone which was made when she and her husband's remains were exhumed from their original burial at the First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and re-interred at the old Pine Street Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth Pettit died June 16, 1846, in her 87th year). The date given for her husband's death is also incorrect on the gravestone. He died in 1822.
