Herman Harrison Hamilton Jr., 86, of Springfield passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born June 11, 1921, in Tice, the son of Herman H. and Virginia Green Hamilton Sr. He married Mildred J. Tribble in Springfield in 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Underwood.
Mr. Hamilton was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Archway Amusements Inc. after many years of employment. He also retired as a crossing guard with Springfield School District 186. He was a member of Eastview Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mildred; two sons, Dennis L. (wife, Marilyn) Hamilton and James F. Hamilton, both of Springfield; two daughters, Patricia A. (husband, Fred) Jackson of Springfield and Theresa Noerper of Missouri; two brothers, Eldon Hamilton of Rock Away Beach, Mo., and Virgil (wife, Geraldine) Hamilton of Virden; nine grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services at Eastview Baptist Church, with Pastor Dennis L. Hamilton and Pastor Bennie Fisher officiating. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
