Mrs. Marilla Norton, (nee Blair), was born near Detroit Mich., Sept. 23, 1836, and died in Geneseo, Ill., Feb. 23, 1912. She came with her parents (Asa and Abigail Blair) to Illinois in 1839 and lived for nearly fifty years in the vicinity of Loraine Township, Henry County. Then for ten years she lived in Iowa and two years in Missouri. The last twelve years she lived in Geneseo with her daughter, Mrs. Elma Carson. She was married to Daniel Beers, Nov. 15, 1855. Her husband died Aug. 7, 1862. She was married to Lorenzo Norton, Sept. 6, 1868, and he preceded her in death, July 30, 1888. Those surviving are her children - Frank Beers, of Woodward, Okla.; Byron Beers of Geneseo; Mrs. Dora Miller of Hazelton, N.D. Hugh Norton, of Burwell, Neb.; Mrs. Elma Carson, Geneseo. There are also twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Three brothers, Albert, Sinclair and John Blair of Geneseo. For 24 years she was almost a constant sufferer, being helpless and confined to her bed for the last 11 years. Her daughter and two granddaughters (Cora and Edna)waited on her in tender care during these years. The funeral service were held at the home on East Park Street on Monday morning at 9:30, Rev. J.A. Geise officiating. The interment was at the Eight Mile Grove cemetery.
