Sue P. Carpenter provides plot information: Samuel Avery is listed in Fairview Cemetery Plat Book on Plat 4 Range 8 Lot 13 G1; Jane A. Avery purchased this lot 25 Apr 1862; Plat book pg 333; there is no entry in the burial register for him; his obit was dated 13 Oct 1872. [Jane Ann Avery was a daughter of Samuel and Lorinda Avery.]

Findagrave volunteer, Mark Hall, kindly provides a photo (to right) of the probable resting place of Samuel Avery:
This is Plat 4, Range 8, Lots 13 & 14. Both of these lots were purchased by Jane Avery and there is only one marker. Captain Samuel Avery, theoretically, is buried just behind the Scherrer marker.
