Ellen Page Allen

Ellen Adeline Page Allen, 84, of Court Street, Lovingston, was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at her residence.

Born January 25, 1925, in Roseland, Virginia, (Nelson County) a daughter of the late Gordon Wilson Page and Sue Johnson Page.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Allen; a son, William G. Allen; five brothers, Calvin "Royster" Page, Floyd Page, Robert Page, Tom Page Sr., and Joseph Page Sr.; and two sisters, Idell (Ethel) Burgess and Fannie Robinson.

Ellen accepted Christ at an early age at the St. James Baptist Church and continued to serve her church and her Christian community throughout her life. She also retired from ConAgra Foods after 20 years of service.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sons and six daughters, Jerry Allen and his wife, Shirley, Cathy Allen-Oakman and her husband, Jay, Sandra Dent and her husband, Darnell, Barbara Allen, Sharon Britt, Robert Allen and his wife, Beverly, Stephen Allen and his wife, Cynthia, Susan Allen, and Cheryl Allen; two sisters, Mary Winstead and Edna Mae Smith. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2009, at St. James Baptist Church in Roseland with the Reverend Michael Page officiating and the Reverend David Brown as eulogist. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the funeral home and suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Nelson County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 44, Faber, Virginia 22938 or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Drive, Suite 101 Natick, Massachusetts 01760.
