ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Larry D. Applen will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ranfranz & Vine Funeral Homes Chapel in Rochester, with the Rev. Steven Schauder officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Applen, 64, of Rochester, died Monday (May 14, 2007) at Saint Marys Hospital.

Larry Dean Applen was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Stewartville. He attended and graduated from Chatfield High School. On Aug. 31, 1963, he married Eloise Alms in Hay Creek, Minn. He worked for NCR for 30 years as a field engineer. He enjoyed gardening, motorcycles, fishing and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Kimberly (Robert) Taylor of Denver; a son, David of Rochester; his mother, Viola Applen of Eyota; and two brothers, Dwayne (Patricia) of Hot Springs, S.D., and John (Carol) of Eyota. Other survivors include a granddaughter, Emma Taylor. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald; and a brother, Rodney.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and an hour before the service Friday at the funeral home.
