Frank Carl Miklas of Lake Monticello passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 27, 2008. He was 89 years old.
He was born to Frank B. and Helen Miklas of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Miklas was a member of the United States Army Air Corps (the predecessor of the United States Air Force) during World War II, serving as a radio operator and cryptographer in many locations in North Africa.
As an avid gardener, he produced delicious fruits and vegetables and beautiful flowers, created colorful rock gardens, and lovingly tended his favorite dogwood trees. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he enjoyed instilling his passion for golf in others as much as he enjoyed playing. During the last 20 years of his life, he lived at Lake Monticello and looked forward to playing golf with the Lake Monticello Grey Foxes as often as he could.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Walker Miklas; daughters, Cheryl Lynn and Christine Miklas, and one grandson Christopher, and many nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grandnieces.
Above all, he was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and his wife, Lois Jane Miklas of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
A graveside service was held Saturday, August 30, 2008, at Monticello Memory Gardens.
