This burial is for Michel Deranger (current spelling) born January 1839, Lafayette, Louisiana, died 30 July 1862 at Camp Douglas while a prisoner of war. Michel/Michael served in Company K, 18th Louisiana Regiment, and was wounded and captured the second day of the Battle of Shiloh, sent to Camp Douglas POW camp outside Chicago, Illinois. Died there.
