Janet was the wife of Charles E. Byers. They had four children: Lawrence L., David L., Steven M. and Vickie M.

Janet V. (Baker) Byers, 82, of 102 Pleasant St., New Oxford, died Dec. 1, in the Hershey Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1921 in Abbottstown, she was the daughter of the late Mark G. and Anna (Brodbeck) Baker, and the wife of the late Charles E. Byers, who died in 2001.
Mrs. Byers graduated from Eichelberger High School, and from the Joyce Art School of Cosmetology, Harrisburg.
She served as a nurse during World War II in the Womens Army Corps. She retired from New Oxford Garment Company.
She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, New Oxford; the Abbottstown Fire Company Ladies Auxillary; American Legion Post 14, Hanover; VFW Post 8956, West York; Womens Army Corp Veterens Association Keystone Chapter 72; Women in Military Service of America; Junior Baseball Auxillary, New Oxford and Abbottstown, and AARP.
Survivors include: 3 sons, Larry L. Byers, Abbottstown, David L. Byers, Dover, Steven M. Byers, Allentown; one daughter, Vickie M. Buckley, Littlestown; nine grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren.
Pre-deceased by one brother, Mark Baker.
The funeral service will be Friday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Feiser Funeral Home, 302 Lincoln Way West, New Oxford, with Rev. Craig Stout officiating.
Internment will be in New Oxford Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Allied Veterans Council of Hanover.
A viewing will be Thursday, Dec. 4, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
