Frank Alonzo Turner, born December 29, 1929, in Bedford Indiana, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at his Perry, Florida, home on February 2, 2009.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 5, 2009, at Cross Point Baptist Church in Perry, Florida, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Burns Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turner grew up on a farm in Ellettsville, Indiana, graduating in 1945 from Ellettsville High. He served a total of seven years in the U.S. Army and Navy, two of which were in Korea. While stationed in Green Cove Springs, Florida, he met his wife of 59 years, Celia (Parker) and they resided together in Perry.
He was a member of the Perry Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, retired from Procter & Gamble after 36 years and operated a fruit stand on Jefferson Street for the last several years.
He is survived by his wife Celia; three daughters Inda (David) Roberts, Trona Cruce and Gretna (James) Hightower; seven grandchildren: Kelly, David, Joe Frank, Leetta, Turner, Elizabeth and James Austin; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Smith of Florida; two sisters, Norma Ruth (the late Paul) Roberts and Martha (the late Bill) Russell of Ellettsville, Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his mother and father, Amza and Madeline Turner of Ellettsville, Indiana, and one brother, Marvin Smith of Utah.
