Anthony was born in Bamberg and grew up in Philadelphia. He was living with his mother when he enlisted in the Marines 18 October 1965, at a
Philadelphia Recruiting Office.
Upon arriving in Vietnam, Anthony was assigned to 1st Force Recon Company, 1st Recon Battalion, 1st Marine Division. The recon team was on a night defensive position on Hill 452 and10 kilometers southwest of An Hoa Airfield, when a lightning strike hit the claymore mines and ammunition to explode killing Anthony and another Marine. Anthony as a result of multiple
fragmentation wounds to the head, both arms and legs.
Tour of duty unknown.
Survived by his mother, Christabel Shadd of 1626 North 30th Street, Philadelphia, PA.
His father, Herman Allen was deceased.
