Bernice Egli, 93, of Kouts, entered eternal life Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center.
She was born September 2, 1919 in Shipshewana, IN to William O. and Elsie (Miller) Nelson.
Bernice was raised in the Mennonite Church and attended First Baptist Church in Kouts. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed gardening, and was known for cooking big meals and taking wonderful care of her family.
On May 27, 1941 in Valparaiso she married Wayne A. Egli, who preceded her in death January 16, 2008.
Survivors include four children: Joy Egli of Kouts, Jeanne (Allen) Janz of Glendale, AZ, Don (Terri) Egli of Altoona, IA, and Ron (Gail) Egli of Cumming, GA; two sisters: Arlene Rice of Monticello and Donnabelle Barber of Valparaiso; five grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; seven great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Nelson and one sister, Elizabeth Birky.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 15 at 10:30 AM at First Baptist Church in Kouts with burial to follow at Hopewell Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 3-7 PM at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 E. Indiana Ave., Kouts. Memorials may be made to Gideon's International or a charity of the donor's choice.
