KNOX - Mrs Violet E. Bashline, 87, of Lamartine, widow of Elmer E. Bashline, died at 9:55 am Saturday in the Grandview Convalescent Home at Clarion following a short illness.
Born in Beaver Township March 30, 1889, she was a daughter of Joel and Lavina Best Best.
She and Elmer E. Bashline were married October 24, 1925. He is deceased.
Mrs. Bashline had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Knox RD 2 since she was 12 years old.
She was an American Cancer Society volunteer and was instrumental in starting the cancer dressing group at the Mt. Joy United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Mrs. Paul (Wilda) Troutman of Callensburg and Mrs. Verda Grantz; a brother, Nelson Best of Knox RD 1, and several nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Reuben, Emery, Jeremiah and George Best, and three sisters, Frances Best, Mary Cropp and Pearl Berlin, are deceased.
Friends are being received at the William N. Rupert Funeral Home in Knox, where funeral services will be held at 2 pm today. Rev. George Kraushaar, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Paul Union Cemetery.
