s/o Bent and Rissie (Casteel) Dingus
Ray Edward "Monk" Dingus, 56, of Route 3, passed away Tuesday (June 7, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Dingus was a lifelong resident of Scott County, Va. He was a retired operator for West Moreland Coal Company and was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bent and Rissie Casteel Dingus; sister, Hazel Ashworth; stepson, Michael Bostic.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Joyner Dingus, Duffield, Va.; daughter, Kristie and husband David Grose, Coeburn, Va.; stepdaughter, Kim and husband Curt McLeland, Huxley, Iowa; grandchildren, Justin, Nikey, Kayla, Devin, and Haley; sisters, Geneva and husband Clyde Hall, Ft. Blackmore, Va., Sue and husband Bill Wallen, Clinchport, Va., Norma Sturgill, Gate City, Va.; brothers, Audley and wife Mabel Dingus, Ft. Blackmore, Va., Eugene and wife Beulah Dingus, Kingsport, E.B. Dingus, Weber City, Va., Paul and wife Lou Dingus, Dungannon, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Pendleton Freewill Baptist Church and anytime at the residence of Norma Sturgill.
Services will be conducted at the church at 7 p.m. with Brother Kenneth Neeley, Evangelist Garry Hood and Pastor Kevin Sanders officiating.
Music will be provided by Pendleton Church Singers.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Dingus, Jerry Hall, Randall Bishop, Justin Bishop, Larry Lane, Delmar Ashworth and Phillip Dingus.
