Darcy G. Hodgdon, 77, a longtime resident of Ascutney, passed away Sunday morning, June 3, at the Springfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.

He was born May 23, 1935 in Orleans, VT the son of Porter and Reba (Lumbra) Hodgdon.

He received his schooling in Barton, VT. He moved to Windsor as a teenager and worked on the Lydia Gould Farm. He was later employed at the Windsor Foundry pouring molds and had managed Davidson's Pool Hall in the evenings.

He and his brothers formed what was to become Hodgdon Brother's Salvage Yard in Ascutney on May 15, 1956, which he owned and operated for many years.

He married Helen G. Durkee in Union Village on May 15, 1954 and they were later divorced. He later married Janet Perkins in Willoughby, VT on October 10, 1981 and they were later divorced.

Darcy enjoyed watching car racing and had owned several race cars. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Albert "Dick" Hodgdon and Dewey Hodgdon, three sisters, Nylene Turgeon, Esther Miles and Lynda Downing.

Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Jarvis and her husband, Dwight of Ascutney, four sons, William "Dickie" Hodgdon and his wife, Pam of Windsor, Darcy "Dusty" Hodgdon and his wife, Diane of Ascutney, Jesse Hodgdon and his wife, Sarah of Northfield, VT and Jamie Hodgdon and his wife, Allison of Ascutney, two brothers, Porter Hodgdon of Swanton, VT and Allie Hodgdon of Cornish, NH, ten grandchildren, Amanda Jasinski, Greg Harris, Colby Hodgdon, Jake Hodgdon, Danielle Hodgdon, Katrina Hodgdon, Dylan Hodgdon, Carter Hodgdon, Jodi Moote and Jennifer Jarvis, nine great grandchildren, Hunter Jasinski, Colt Jasinski, Chase Hodgdon, Madelynn Hodgdon, Parker Moote, Brady Moote, Cooper Moote, Chloe Zullo and Ryinn Martin, several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor on Wednesday evening, June 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 7 at 2:00 PM at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor.

Committal services will follow in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.

A reception for family and friends will follow at Darcy's home in Ascutney.
