Raymond Gomez Hernandez, age 74, passed away May 27, 2014 at his home in Wittmann, Arizona.

Raymond was born November 17, 1939 in Glendale, Arizona to Rito & Angela Hernandez.

He was raised in LeGrande, California and attended schools there. He later enlisted in the Marines, during his military service he met and married Beatrice Barajas they lived in various locations during his military service.

During his service Raymond was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart. Following his military service Raymond trained in computer science and worked for a time in the trade he later moved to Rankin, Texas where he worked in maintenance for the Rankin School District.

He returned to Arizona and later married Jan Temple making their home in Wittmann, Az. Raymond worked in retail grocery for years and later with the Wickenburg Court System in security and translation. He was a member of the American Legion Post #12 in Wickenburg, the 40 and 8 Club and the Marine Corps League as well as the Maricopa County Sheriff's Posse.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Jan in April of 2013 and brothers Domingo and Frank Flores and his prior wife Beatrice Hernandez as well as his mother & father.

He is survived by his children: Lonnie (Tammy) Hernandez, Sr., Raymond (Carol) Hernandez, Richard (Rene) Hernandez, Gary (Lila) Hernandez, Nancy (Bruce) Hollister, Diane (Larry) Nievel, John (Anita) Van Sanford, brother Pete Lara, sisters Rosie, Lupe & Modesta, 33 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services with military honors will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 9:30 AM with a Rosary being said at 9:00 AM just prior to the Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 232 N. Tegner St. Wickenburg, AZ 85390

Interment will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
