Obituary from "The Turon Press", Turon, Kansas, Thursday, February 5, 1931:
J. DEL DAVIS CALLED TO HIS REWARD
"The passing of J. Del Davis at his home last Friday is mourned by a multitude of friends as well as by his wife and a host of relatives because he was a man of worth, a friend to all, who knew him and a kind and loving husband, a helpful neighbor, and a good friend.
"Mr. Davis was a man who took great interest in community affairs and for years he was correspondent from the Lerado district for the Turon Press and his items were always original and interesting, and he will be missed as a recorder of current events from the Lerado community.
"The deceased was an ardent booster for the Lerado I.O.O.F. lodge of which he was a member for many years, and by his death the order suffers an irreparable loss.
"Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, February 1, 1931 at 2 o'clock, by Tom Coats, assisted by J.F. Ragsdale and members of Odd Fellows Lodge at the Lerado church after which the remains were laid to rest in the beautiful Lerado cemetery.
"It is said that this was the largest funeral ever held at Lerado, which is a testimonial of the love and respect of the people of the community for a true friend and an honorable and upright citizen."
