RIGBY - Velma Lucille Ellis Terry, 88, formerly of Rigby, died Sept. 27, 2006, in Sandy, Utah.
She was born Jan. 14, 1918, in Grant to Parley Edmund Ellis and Ruth Emma Balmforth Ellis. She grew up in Grant and attended Grant Elementary School. She graduated from Midway High School. She graduated with a nursing degree from the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. She served on nursing boards and worked for medical clinics in eastern Idaho.
On Nov. 19, 1940, she married Enos Clyde Terry Jr. in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many positions, including Relief Society, Primary and Scouting. She and her husband, Clyde, served a full-time mission at the Oakland, Calif., Visitors Center. She spent the winter months in St. George, Utah, and served as a stake missionary. Velma was active in the Toastmistress Club and the RSVP Club.
Survivors include her children, Lugene (Brian) West of South Jordan, Utah, Julie (Craig) Meacham of Billings, Mont., Richard (Vicki) Terry of Orem, Utah, Roger (Rhonda) Terry of Manhattan, Kan., and Wayne (Karma) Terry of Dallas, Texas; brothers, Kenneth P. Ellis and Donald C. Ellis; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; a son, Clyde Lynn; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, in the Lewisville LDS 2nd Ward, with Bishop Curtis Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday before services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
