Willard J. "Bill" Alford, 90, a lifelong resident of the Enon community, died Nov. 8, 2010 at his home.
Visitation is 9 a.m. Wednesday at Enon Baptist Church until services there at 11. The Rev. David Hedden and the Rev. Bendon Ginn will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, under the direction of Catchings Funeral Home of McComb.
Mr. Alford was born Oct. 31, 1920, in Walthall County, the son of Ben C. Alford and Annie Freeman Alford.
He was a farmer and a retired painter for Sherman Construction Company in McComb. He was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and a member of the Joyful Generation Senior Adult Group. He was the oldest living member of the Enon Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pearl Cothern Alford.
Survivors include his daughter, Gaye Smith and her husband, Dr. Farris Smith of Clinton; three grandchildren, Dr. Michael Smith and wife, Sabrea and their daughter, Presley of Columbus; Mandy Winscott and husband, Dr. John Winscott and their children, Bailey, Brady and Blair of Clinton, and Macy Cross and her husband, Dr. Shane Cross and their children, Parker, Avery and Carter of Arlington, Tenn.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Frances "Nancy" Herrington of McComb and Catherine Ellard and husband Bruce of Natchez; a sister-in-law, Doris Alford of McComb; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Boyd, Calvin McEwen, Ronnie Campbell, Travis Marbury, Tommy Roberts and Tim Leonard.
