George Mason Bishop was born May 22,1918, in Green County, Ky., to the late Henry Hartwell Bishop & Maude Harrison Taylor. he departed this life on November 19, 2001 at his home in Green County, having attained the age of eighty-three years, five months and twenty-seven days.
George Mason Bishop had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member and Deacon of the Green Hill Baptist Church.
he was a former employee of E. J. Milby Lumber of Greensburg, and Obanion Builders of Bowling Green and a cabinet maker of Hancock Cabinets of Greensburg. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the Greensburg American Legion Post #124, He was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge # 54 for 50 years.
He united in marriage to Mary Matt Jeffries December 14, 1940. She preceded him in death April 12, 1973. to this union was born one son Merrill Douglas Bishop He was born & died October 25, 1941. he later married Mary Eunice Perkins, January 5,1974 in Mercer Co., Ky., who survives.
He is servived by two sons Lewis and Becky Vandiver Price and Billy Ray & Sharon Ryan Price of Harrodsburg, 5 grandsons, Chad Price of Lexington, Jeffrey Price ,Frankie Price, and B. J. Price all of Harrodsburg, Ky., & Michael Price, of Grayson Kentucky. One granddaughter & son in law, Daphnie Price Woodrum & Todd Woodrum of Danville. a special, friend & cousin Jerry Curry of Greensburg and Deloris "Mamma" Lee; of Greensburg, two sisters Anna Mae Judd ( Carlile) Fairdale, ky. Mildred Earline (Mitchell )Shaw, Louisville, a special sister in law, Ruby Bishop of Louisville, a sister in -law Jeanette Ann Miller of Lexington, two brother -in-laws Walter Thomas Perkins, Jr. of Chicago and Charles K. Perkins of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by three sisters Mary Linda Shaw, Laura Francis Wolford, and Beatrice Majel Curry and a brother Russell Waldon Bishop.
Internment at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, officiating were Rev. Carlos Compton, Rev. Gary Landis, and Rev Gilbert Larimore, (bio by: Mary Bishop)
