Alvin Richard Chappell, 68, husband of Joyce Barton Chappell for 48 years, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 16, 2010. Mr. Chappell was born on March 18, 1942 in Greenville to the late Lemuel Franklin Chappell and Mattie Azalee Murphy Chappell. He was of the Baptist faith. He worked in construction and enjoyed mechanics. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, Tony and Terry Chappell; a daughter, Tina Green and husband Phillip; two brothers, Troy and wife Linda, Robert and wife Carolyn; a sister, Sue Templeton and husband Bill; five grandchildren, Casey Moon, Matthew Chappell, Travis Green, Brianna Tollison and Lexis Chappell; and a great-grandson, Josh Moon. He was predeceased by four brothers, Leroy, Donald, Carl and James Chappell, and also by a grandson, Mark Chappell.
Visitation will be 5-6:30 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Funeral Service. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Stephen Christopher. Burial will follow in Cannon Memorial Park.
