Robin Monroe Butler, 97, died in his home Monday, January 5, 2009. Graveside services are 2 pm today at Calvary Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Mize.

Mr. Butler was born July 29, 1911, in Smith County.
An expert mechanic, Mr. Butler built motors for military vehicles during World War II, owned and operated his own business in Richland and later worked as manager of the new car service departments at Ford and Mercury dealerships in Jackson.
Mr. Butler was saved during the 1952 Billy Graham Crusade in Jackson. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richland where he served as both deacon and Sunday School teacher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hercial and Alvy and sisters, Ethel Allen and Etta Butler.
Mr. Butler is survived by his wife of seventy-eight years, Lucile Ainsworth Butler; his daughter, Betty Sue Broome of Brandon; his daughter and her husband, Jo Ann and J. T. Laird of Florence; four grandchildren, Francis Harrell Broome, Jr. of Florence, Lee Broome of Gulfport, Robin Miles of West Point, and Ruth Ulrich of Monroe, LA. He is further survived by eight great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
