Andrew immigrated with his family to the United States in 1855. He worked on the Northern Pacific Railroad out of Ferryville, WI and met Sarah Copper while working there.
Andrew and Sarah Copper were married 22 Dec 1875 in Freeman, Crawford, Wisconsin by W F McMaster. John Oleson and John Lewis were the witnesses. Andrew and Sarah's first home was across the Mississippi River from Ferryville, in Lansing, Iowa. They were given a pig as a wedding present from Sarah's family and it was a stormy crossing in an open boat with their belongings including this squealing pig which was to provide meat for the winter. They later homesteaded outside Merrill, Wisconsin.
