Ann Elizabeth DeRosa, a longtime San Benito County resident, died Sunday, October 14 at the age of 95. Mrs. DeRosa moved to San Francisco from Pennsylvania with her parents when she was two years old. She came to San Benito County at the age of 16 and a few years later, on November 28, 1925, married Frank G. DeRosa at Sacred Heart Church in Hollister. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and was also active in A.Y.L.I., traveling with them on many trips. She especially enjoyed visiting Hawaii. She loved to play Blackjack with her friends locally and also in Tahoe. Mrs. DeRosa was a self-employed homemaker and devoted mother to her daughters, especially Betty Lee DeRosa who needed special care all her life and now survives her mother. When her husband was alive they operated a trucking company and he farmed in San Juan Bautista and in Southside areas. Mrs. DeRosa is survived by her daughter Beverly Rodgers and son-in-law R.C. Rodgers of Hollister, daughter Betty Lee DeRosa of Hollister, granddaughter Denise Thome of Hollister, great grandsons Nathan Michael Thome and Kevin Rodgers Thome of Hollister, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank G. DeRosa, who died in 1985, her grandson Don William Rodgers, brothers John Volosing and Andrew Volosing, and sister Mary Stout. Friends are invited to visit at the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and on Friday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. when family and friends will leave the mortuary to attend a 1 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at the IOOF cemetery in Hollister. Donations are preferred to Sacred Heart School c/o the mortuary chapel.
