OBIT:
Dorothy Tyrell, a longtime resident of Tenino, died at her home on Friday. She was born in Thorp, Washington on January 17, 1917, later moving to the Seattle area where she became a career chef, working at the SeaTac Airport Carvery Restaurant and Hyatt House.
Mrs. Tyrell was active in the Tenino area as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, and for several years coordinated the "Old Time Style Show" at Oregon Trail Days. She was also an active member of the Skookumchuck Grange and was also well known for her gourmet cooking, her love of antiques, and for spirited volunteer wok in the community. He husband Dick says of her, "She was a proud, protecting and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will always be remembered for her compassion and giving ways."
She is survived by her husband, Earl (Dick) Tyrell, Tenino; two sons, Bruce Martinson of Tacoma and Bill Martinson of Sumner; a daughter, Sue DeBow of Yelm; three sisters; Lois Whitehurst, Ellensburg; Shirley Lynch, Buckley; and Bonnie Champie, Seattle; two brothers, Jim Barrett, Port Townsend, and Don Barrett, Renton; and nine grandchildren.
No services will be held at her request. Remembrances should be sent to the Orting Veterans Home, Orting, Washington
