Glen Ausmus, age 86, a former resident of Colorado Springs and Arvada, Colorado, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2011, in Oakley, Kansas.

He was a retired farmer and automotive mechanic with Al DeMark Auto. Glen Ausmus was born on May 30, 1925, in Ingalls, Kansas, to the late Fred and Anna (Hadley) Ausmus. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army and served honorably during World War II.

While stationed at Fort Dietrich in Frederick, Maryland, he met Dorothy Ruth Kefauver. They married there on February 15, 1948.

Glen is survived by his daughters: Harriet (husband Richard) Ortiz of Snohomish, Washington; and Evelyn Dalby of Oceanside, California; two brothers: Richard (wife Laura) Ausmus of Colorado Springs; and Roger (wife Marge) Ausmus of Winona, Kansas; three sisters: Dorothy Peitz, Norma Straub, and Beth Lamb-Duff; four grandchildren: James, Jennifer, Matthew, and Mary; and two great grandchildren: Logan and Autumn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, and very recently by his brother, Alfred.

Glen loved to sing. He sang baritone in his church choirs in Colorado Springs and Winona for many years. He also loved to dance. When Glen moved from Denver to Winona he often joined friends to travel to Saturday night dances in Scott City. He will be best remembered for his kind, gentle, and respectful nature. He was a man who worked hard and could always be counted on.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011, at the Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. Funeral Services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011, at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel.
