The subject is the son of Victory Alley and an unknown father. Paternity of his sister Ada Alley is also unknown at this time (Nov, 2015). The two were raised by their maternal grandmother, Phoebe Alley. [Preceding information provided verbally by descendant, Jerry Ferrell]. Charles married Dorrthula Eveline Williams Radcliffe 27 Feb 1892 in Pope Co., Illinois. He is the father of four known children (3 daughters, 1 son) and step-father of two children (1 male, 1 female); it is unknown if they were legally adopted by him.
DEATH OF CHAS. ALLEY
Chas. Alley, aged 71 years, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 1941, at the home of his son, Roy, in Golconda. The body lay in state in the Hoffman Funeral Home until 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, when it was conveyed to Good Hope Church in Livingston County, Ky.
Mr. Alley lost his companion by death 36 years ago, and remained a widower the balance of his life. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edgar Sisco, of Marion, Ky., and Mrs. E.E. Ferrell, of Charleston, Mo.; one son, Roy, of Golconda; two step-children, Mrs. John Williams of Burna, Ky., and Earl Radcliffe of Marion, Ill. Besides these, there are 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Mrs. Gladys Hurley, is deceased.
Rev. O.O. Maerker, pastor of the First Methodist church, this city, was in charge of the last rites, assisted by Rev. N.D. Story.
