OBITUARY - Foster A. Bard - 21 June 1955, "The Daily News", Huntingdon and Mount Union PA - Foster A. Bard of Allenport, superintendent of the North American Refractories Company plant at Mount Union, passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 20, 1955, at 7:30 a.m., at his home.
Bard, who had been in his usual health, was about to get into his car to go to work when he collapsed. He was taken into his home and a physician was summoned, but he passed away shortly afterward.''The deceased was born January 21, 1898, at Otelia, near Mount Union, a son of Adam and Nannie (Shore) Bard.
He was educated in the Shirley Township schools and moved with his parents in 1909 to Allenport, where he had resided since then. During World War I he was employed in the office of the Aetna Powder Company at Silver Ford Heights, and began his employment with North American in 1919.
Bard was a member of the Allenport Methodist Church, Mount Union Lodge No. 688, Free and Accepted Masons, and the Harrisburg Consistory.
Three brothers, Frank H. Bard of Allenport, Calvin R. Bard of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Scott W. Bard of Kistler, survive. Eleven nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 23, at 2:30 p.m. at his late home in Allenport. His pastor, the Rev. Frank W. Crawford, will have charge of the services and burial will be made in the Germany Valley Cemetery. Masonic services will be held at the late home at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Friends may call at his late residence after noon on Wednesday until the hour of services. Clark funeral service, Mount Union.
