Bertha Mae Chilcoat, 91, of Rockhill was dead on arrival at the J.C.Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon at 10:30 am, Friday, December 12, 1975. Death was unexpected. Born November 2, 1884 in Cromwell Township, she was a daughter of William B. and Caroline (Starr) Wilson. On April 11, 1916, she was married to William M. Chilcoat of Rockhill. The ceremony was performed in her home by her brother, the Rev. Roy X. Wilson. Mr. Chilcoat preceded in death January 26,1927. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Booher, R.D., Orbisonia: a step-son, Alvin S. Chilcoat, Neelyton, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, nine step-grandchildren, and numerous step-greatgrandchildren. Four step children are deceased. Also surviving is a sister, Mrs. Alice Hall, Huntingdon. Mrs. Chilcoat was one of the founders of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren where she was a deaconness, and served in various capacities on numerous boards and offices. She taught Sunday School at the church for over 70 years and was long active in District 11 Sunday School Convention programs. For many years and at the time of her death, her home served as a collection and processing center for Salvation Army and Church World Service donations. Prior to her marriage, she taught school in Cromwell Township for 12 years. Mrs. Chilcoat was borough tax collector in Rockhill for over 30 years and she was former county president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 15, from the Rockhill Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Ronald A. Beverlin, her pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the IOOF Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill. Friends will be received at the Ott funeral home in Orbisonia from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until 11 a.m. Monday and at the church Monday from noon until time for services.
