Andrew George Kaiser, age 91, of Fredericksburg, Texas was called home on Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, after a short illness. Andrew was born in Houston, Texas on March 11, 1920 to Joseph and Clara Kaiser. At age four, the family moved to Fredericksburg and he made his home there since. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and attended St. Mary's Catholic School. On April 24, 1941, he married Beatrice "Bea" Wehmeyer who survives him. They had four children, of which three survive. They are Phyllis Klein and her husband, Dennis, of San Marcos; Barry Kaiser and his wife, Paula, of Fredericksburg, and Greg Kaiser and his wife, Gwen, of Abilene. The oldest daughter, Karen Kay, preceded him in death in 1968. Andrew was also blessed with six grandchildren: Stephanie Malott and her husband, David' Wendy Klein and her husband, Matthew Fitzgerald; Christopher Kaiser and his wife, Wanda; Cassell Heep and her husband, Sean; Andrea Kaiser and Fathom Kimes. There are also five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Two sisters survive him: Katherine Hahne, and Genevieve Rech and her husband, Norman, all of Fredericksburg. As a young boy, Andrew took an interest in art, working in various mediums. This became a lifelong hobby. He also had an interest in music, playing both the clarinet and saxophone. He played in various concert and dance bands, finally organizing his own dance band, "The Royal Combo". He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II with tours of duty in the States and Italy. Andrew and Bea operated Kaiser Furniture Stores in Mason, Kerrville and Fredericksburg; the one in Fredericksburg for over 30 years. During these years, Andrew was also involved with several other businesses, including the Conoco Agency. At the close of 1972, they sold their business and real estate. He was active in numerous civic, church and school committees. The next thirty years were spent traveling as members of the Airstream Travel Club, International. Andy and Bea served in all offices, including International President in 1981, serving 23,000 families. They traveled North America, Europe and the South Seas, gleaning a whole lifetime of memories. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the organist; Liz Tynan and Caleb Rech were the vocalists; and Stephanie Malott and Cassell Heep, scripture readers. The eulogy was given by Chris Kaiser, and Pattie Jordan and Marcia Stehling were the Eucharistic ministers. Burial followed in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
