Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Chapel Friday at 11 a.m. for Taft resident Hazel M. Ayers, 80. The services will conclude in the Chapel and private burial will be at a later date in the West Side District Cemetery. Rev. Sam White, pastor of the Cuyama Assembly of God, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Ayers was born in Arkansas on June 3, 1918 and passed away on November 22, 1998 in a Bakersfield hospital.
Mrs Ayers came to Taft 47 years ago. She as a LVN for 28 years and last worked for the West Side District Hospital. Mrs. Ayers was a member of the New Hope Temple Church. She was a number one Cougar fan and also enjoyed the Dodgers. She liked to fish and play golf. Mrs. Ayers enjoyed hand work in piecing quilts.
Mrs. Ayers was preceded in death by her husband, Milford Ayers, in February 1957. She is survived by her children and their spouses, her sister, her eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations can be made in Mrs. Ayers name to the Arthritis Foundation or your favorite charity.
There are no visitation hours scheduled and the arrangements are under the direction of the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
