Services will be held at the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home for Myrtle S. Anderson , 98. The pastor of the First Congregational Church of Maricopa, will officiate, and burial will follow in West Side District Cemetery.
She was born in Sierra, New Mexico on March 3, 1887 and passed away April 5, 1985 in a Bakersfield rest home.
Mrs. Anderson, the widow of the late Maricopa Justice Court Judge J.R. "Ham" Anderson, She was a pioneer of the West Side, having moved to Maricopa in July of 1910. Mrs. Anderson was postmistress at the Maricopa Post Office from 1910 until 1917. She worked for many years as court clerk at the Maricopa Justice Court in Maricopa, and was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Maricopa. She was formerly a member of the Womens' Improvement Club of Taft and also sang with the Taft Lyric Club.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by two daughters, a brother, six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of the First Congregational Church of Maricopa.
