Dale Lee Andrew, 85, of 37 Parks Ridge Road, Vevay, died Friday, Feb. 27, 2004, at the King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born March 4, 1918, in Switzerland County, the son of Ethol S. and Mabel G. Rogers Andrew. He lived on Smith's Ridge and Park's Ridge near Moorefield all his life. He was a farmer, and raised Belgian horses, competing with them in horse pulls. In March 2002 he was presented the Silver Star Award by the Switzerland County Soil & Water Conservation District for dedicating his life to agriculture. He was a member of the Long Run Baptist Church near Moorefield.
Surviving are one son, James Andrew, and one daughter, Nancy Cain, both of Moorefield; one brother, George Andrew of Elrod; one sister, Nell Jaynes of Anderson; four grandsons; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nov. 25, 1978; his father, Sept. 20, 1990; his wife, Nannie Shaw Andrew, Jan. 6, 2002; one brother, Ethol Andrew Jr., February 1997; and three sisters, Dorothy Lucas, Nov. 17, 1968; Grace Jourdan, May 31, 1997; and Martha Burnett, Feb. 10, 2001.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
