The funeral will be held Sept. 21 for Martha Skochenko Wilson of Waldport, formerly of Eugene, who died Sept. 16 of heart failure. She was 75.
Wilson was born April 23, 1920, in North Dakota, one of 11 children born to George and Minnie Skochenko. Her family moved to Oregon in 1938 and settled in Springfield in 1940. She married Kermit Wilson on Sept. 8, 1956, in Eugene.
She worked as a dental assistant in Eugene, for Analytical Services in Eugene and for the Miller Department Store. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, crabbing, cooking and feeding birds.
Survivors include her husband; five sisters, Mary Korop, Anne Korop and Ruth Sykes, all of Springfield, and Gladys Abarr and Lena Korop, both of Eugene; and four brothers, Sam Skochenko of Puyallup, Wash., Steve Skochenko of Springfield, Walter Skochenko of Las Vegas and George Skochenko of Eugene.
Thursday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene, with burial at Rest-Haven Memorial Park. Bateman Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.~~~ ~~~

Martha Wilson 75, of Waldport died at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport on Sept 16 1995.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Minot, North Dakota on April 23, 1920 to George and Minnie Kulish Skochanko. She had lived in Waldport since 1977.
She previously lived in Eugene and worked there as a dental assistant for 10 years. She was a homemaker for the rest of her life. She enjoyed flower gardening, picking mushrooms, clamming and crabbing.
She married Kermit Wilson in Eugene on Sept 1956.
Mrs. Wilson's survivors include her husband, a stepdaughter, Linda Mahoney, of Concord, Califoria, four brothers, Sam Skochanko of Puyallup. Wash., Steve Skochanko of Springfield, Oregon, Walt Skochanko of Las Vegas, Nev., George Skochanko, Jr. also of Springfield, Oregon, five sisters, Ann Korop, Mary Korop and Ruth all of Springfield, Oregon and Lena Korop and Gladys Abarr, both of Eugene and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will take place at 2 P.M., Thurday at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport, Oregon.
