When Emma Scott was born on May 26, 1857, in Geneva, Illinois, her father, Elijah, was 54 and her mother, Cornelia, was 39. She married Joseph Allen on September 9, 1875, in Ogle County, Illinois. They had three children in 13 years; Florence Maude Turnure, Katherine Blanche Cooley, and Scott Ellis Allen. She and her husband spent most of their lives in Mason City, Iowa they were engaged in farming. She died on April 22, 1948, in Reno, Nevada, at the age of 90.
