James Edward Strickland was a truck driver for Ryder Truck, where he spent his entire working life either driving or repairing trucks. His family moved from Georgia to Florida when he was a boy and his mother's family lived in Lake County (Tavares). He was married to Linda Mae Coleman (of New Jersey) and raised his family (a daughter and a son) in the Combee settlement area of Lakeland. He had a great sense of humor and loved his family very much. He passed away August 11, 1995, leaving behind a wife, two children and one granddaughter.
