DAVENPORT Socora M. Ahrens, 82, of Davenport, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Home in Davenport.
Burial in Davenport Memorial Cemetery.
Socora was born May 16, 1928, in Davenport, the daughter of Jesus and Sarah (Valdez) Castel. She was united in marriage to Allen G. Ahrens on May 28, 1966, in Bettendorf. Socora worked for over 12 years at Brammer Manufacturing and then went into housekeeping at the Davenport Osteopathic Hospital and retired from the former Mercy Hospital (Genesis West). She enjoyed watching television and dancing, especially the polka and waltz. She also belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of East Moline.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Allen, Davenport; son, Chris, Marshalltown, Iowa; grandchildren, Casey Wolf, Kipp Ray, Kilay, Allen and Austin Dunnick; brothers, Raymond (Gay) Castel, Davenport, Alphonse (Liz) Castel, Colona, Ill.; sisters, Sarah (Rupert) Campos, Moline, Anne Montecino, Moline; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Theresa Alonzo and Petra Palos, and a brother, Jesse Castel.
