Services for Edward A. Baldwin, 76, of Muscatine, formerly of West Liberty, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at George M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Muscatine. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Baldwin died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.

He was the owner of Ruthenberg Clothing Co. for 30 years, from 1952 to 1982. He was the owner of Tuxedo Junction for nine years until closing due to illness in 1997.

Mr. Baldwin was born May 18, 1921, to Leonard W. and Neva F. Janney Baldwin in Parkersburg, Iowa. He married Martha Hobstetter Swart in 1946. She died in 1975. He married Elma I. Danner on March 4, 1978, in Muscatine.

Edward served in the Marine Corps from August 1942 until October 1945. He served in the South Pacific for 20 months as a staff sergeant and chief cook attached to VMTB 1/34, MAG 11. He then returned to Cherry Point, N.C., until being honorably discharged.

Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Carol (Mrs. Ronald) Reynolds, Muscatine; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and one step-grandson, Craig Reynolds.
