Isaac Mason Satterthwaite, 88, of Rockford, died at 8:46 p.m. Sunday, June 17, 2007, in Wesley Willows Heath Center in Rockford, Illinois.
Mason was born June 27, 1918, in Belvidere, Illinois. He graduated from Rockford Central High School in 1937 and went on to earn an Accounting degree from Rockford Business College.
Mason served with the Civilian Public Service in Columbus, Ohio, during World War II. He was the comptroller for Ekstrom, Carlson & Co. for 20 years, after which he started his own tax and accounting service business which operated out of offices located in Pierce Packaging Co., which was also one of his major accounts.
Mason was a co-founder, treasurer, and lifelong member of Stepping Stones, Inc. Mason was a 50 year plus member of Institute of Management Accountants. He was a lifelong member and treasurer of the Elks #765 and long time member of Mah-Nah-Tee-See Country Club, where he also served as treasurer. Mason was an owner of Geri's Hamburger stands located in Rockford, Beloit and Janesville.
Mason prided himself in business and personal life, on being honest and fair in his decisions. A favorite quote was "Patience is a virtue. Catch it if you can. Seldom found in woman and never found in man." He enjoyed a long membership with the Cotillion and Ostende Dance Clubs.
Mason married Jeanette Anderson in 1941. She passed away in 1979.
He married Jeanne Croyle in 1980.
Mason lived for more than 50 years at 821 Green Meadow and moved to Willow Ridge of Wesley Willows on June 1, 2004.
Mason is survived by wife Jeanne, beloved dog, Katsha; his daughter, Susan; sons, Jack (Sue) and Steven (Leanne); step-daughter, Tricia Croyle (John); grandchildren, Erin (Tim), Sara (Dan), Randall (Mary) and Kristen; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the funeral home. His funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave. with Rev. William Ward of Westminster Presbyterian Church officiating.
